Welcome from the Executive Principal of The British School of Barcelona
Graded as ‘Outstanding in every category’ in our recent inspection, we have a proud, well-established reputation for providing a world-class international education to students from two to eighteen.
Academic outcomes are very important and BSB students obtain excellent examination results which enable them to access top universities in Spain and around the world. However, in order to thrive in a rapidly evolving world, young people need more than just top grades. They need to develop the skills and attributes they will require in a world where many jobs will be automated and distinctly 'human' qualities – creativity, curiosity, collaboration – will be prized above all else.
School should also be fun and BSB offers a nurturing environment where young people can flourish and emerge ready to take on the challenges that await them with confidence and certainty.
We'd love you to come and visit our campuses in Barcelona, Castelldefels and Sitges to find out more about why BSB could be the right school for your child.
Neil Tetley
Executive Principal
'Outstanding in Every Category'
The British School of Barcelona has retained the 'Outstanding in Every Category' status following the British Schools Overseas inspection of our school in October 2024. This is the highest recognition an international school can receive and places us as one of the best British schools in the world.
The British Schools Overseas inspection is accredited by the British government, and we are the only school in Barcelona to have this badge of quality.
'The British School of Barcelona (BSB) provides a very high standard of education, which is supported by excellent relationships in a safe, very caring and well-organised school community.'
An outstanding private school in Barcelona, one of the most dynamic, innovative and cosmopolitan capitals of Europe
The Good Schools Guide
We are extremely proud that a reviewer from The Good Schools Guide International visited us and reviewed our school. The result? An impartial, straight-talking and thoroughly researched school review for each of our campuses.
'Playing, exploring, creating and thinking freely in their own way is the basis of early years education and is the start of a journey of growth and development which continues through the school.'

🌳 Growing together!
✨ We’re proud to launch the BSB Culture Tree, a symbol of our shared values and aspirations. Rooted in our four aims - positive experience, excellent academic progress, character development, and a global mindset, the tree represents how every member of our community contributes to making BSB a place where students thrive.
🌍 If you see one of the trees around campus, look out for the panot, Barcelona’s flower-shaped tile. It’s a small reminder of where we come from, and of the global outlook we share.
🌟 The BSB Culture Tree is more than a display — it embodies what a BSB Education stands for: enabling students to thrive in, and contribute positively to, a rapidly evolving world.
🔗 Stay tuned for a video from our Executive Principal, Neil Tetley, sharing more about it soon!

💡 From curriculum insights to practical tips, the meetings also give parents the chance to meet teachers and tutors, ask questions, and feel fully informed as the new school year begins.
🌟 We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!

🎉 Celebrating 10 years of memories!
👩🎓 This weekend, we welcomed back the Class of 2015 for their 10th Anniversary Reunion. Alumni and teachers from their time came together at BSB Castelldefels to reconnect, share stories, and celebrate everything they’ve achieved since their school days.
☘️ It was wonderful to show them how much BSB has grown in the last decade – from the addition of the rugby pitch to the opening of the BSB Nexus Pre-University campus and, most recently, the innovative BSB STEAM Centre, all of which they were excited to see and loved exploring.
🌟 Perhaps the most touching moments were when they sat down in the very classrooms where they once studied, bringing back memories of laughter, friendships, and lessons that helped shape who they are today.
💬 Mark Woodward, Secondary and Pre-University Headteacher, shared: “Hearing the journeys of our former students was truly inspiring – from doctors, lawyers, pilots, business leaders, filmmakers and scientists to PhD researchers at Oxford, Cambridge and here in Barcelona. Their varied pathways and achievements make us immensely proud.”

FAQs
The British School of Barcelona is the only school in Barcelona to have received the 'Outstanding in Every Category' status following the British Schools Overseas inspection of our school in October 2024. This is the highest recognition that an international school can receive. Our educational model stands out for the quality of our teaching, our relationship with families and students, and the global approach of our educational project. Our highly qualified teachers, innovative curriculum, and focus on both academic success and personal growth create a dynamic learning environment. Additionally, we offer two routes for university entry qualifications: International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and A Levels (supplemented where necessary with Spanish qualifications). Both are internationally recognised and respected by leading universities around the world.
We ensure personalised attention, effective learning, and a supportive classroom environment to support individual growth. Our average ratio varies depending on the educational stage.
Joining BSB is a simple and streamlined process. Our dedicated Admissions team is here to support you every step of the way. To get started, you’ll need to complete the online application form and provide your child’s most recent school reports, passports/IDs, and references (if applicable). This allows us to begin the admissions process and ensure we can meet your child's needs. Depending on your child’s age and the year of entry, we will invite you and your child to either an informal assessment or an interview to evaluate their English proficiency for the appropriate year group. Additionally, your child will have an interview with the Headteacher as part of the process.
