Welcome from the Executive Principal of The British School of Barcelona
Graded as ‘Outstanding in every category’ in our recent inspection, we have a proud, well-established reputation for providing a world-class international education to students from two to eighteen.
Academic outcomes are very important and BSB students obtain excellent examination results which enable them to access top universities in Spain and around the world. However, in order to thrive in a rapidly evolving world, young people need more than just top grades. They need to develop the skills and attributes they will require in a world where many jobs will be automated and distinctly 'human' qualities – creativity, curiosity, collaboration – will be prized above all else.
School should also be fun and BSB offers a nurturing environment where young people can flourish and emerge ready to take on the challenges that await them with confidence and certainty.
We'd love you to come and visit our campuses in Barcelona, Castelldefels and Sitges to find out more about why BSB could be the right school for your child.
Neil Tetley
Executive Principal
'Outstanding in Every Category'
The British School of Barcelona has retained the 'Outstanding in Every Category' status following the British Schools Overseas inspection of our school in October 2024. This is the highest recognition an international school can receive and places us as one of the best British schools in the world.
The British Schools Overseas inspection is accredited by the British government, and we are the only school in Barcelona to have this badge of quality.
'The British School of Barcelona (BSB) provides a very high standard of education, which is supported by excellent relationships in a safe, very caring and well-organised school community.'
An outstanding private school in Barcelona, one of the most dynamic, innovative and cosmopolitan capitals of Europe
The Good Schools Guide
We are extremely proud that a reviewer from The Good Schools Guide International visited us and reviewed our school. The result? An impartial, straight-talking and thoroughly researched school review for each of our campuses.
'Playing, exploring, creating and thinking freely in their own way is the basis of early years education and is the start of a journey of growth and development which continues through the school.'

🌟 At BSB, we support our families right from the start. This term, our Early Years team hosted Tapestry and Phonics workshops for Nursery & Reception parents, all through BSB Castelldefels and BSB Sitges Campuses
📖 These sessions provided practical tips on how learning is nurtured both at school and at home, helping parents feel confident and connected to their child’s journey.
🔔 Don’t forget to check Cognita Connect for upcoming workshop dates at your campus — these sessions are highly valuable, and strong communication between parents and school is key to every child’s success.

🗣️ At BSB Castelldefels, this week our Year 8 Secondary students explored the concept of solidarity through a coloquio (debating session) in their Spanish lesson.
💬 They practised using topic-specific vocabulary, strengthened their oracy skills by taking turns and respecting different viewpoints, and engaged in hard thinking while discussing real-life examples.
🌍 Beyond language learning, this activity helped them reflect on the value of solidarity and how to apply it in their everyday lives.

🌿 Here’s a glimpse of how our Year 3 students at BSB City spent a day immersed in nature at Forest School.
🎨 During the session, they explored how natural elements can be transformed into painting materials—just as people did in the Stone Age. This activity connects directly with their current inquiry theme: From the Stone Age to the Iron Age.
✨ From hands-on exploration to teamwork and outdoor learning, these experiences bring curiosity, resilience, and discovery to life outside the classroom.

✨ Learning beyond the classroom!
🧪 Year 11 took a deep dive into science with an inspiring visit to CRAM, a non-profit organisation dedicated to marine conservation.
🚣♂️ Meanwhile, Year 9 explored the Olympic Canal for Global Be Well Day, combining outdoor activity, personal development, and quality time connecting with classmates.
🌟 Experiences like these connect classroom learning to real-world challenges, foster teamwork and strengthen bonds along the way.

FAQs
The British School of Barcelona is the only school in Barcelona to have received the 'Outstanding in Every Category' status following the British Schools Overseas inspection of our school in October 2024. This is the highest recognition that an international school can receive. Our educational model stands out for the quality of our teaching, our relationship with families and students, and the global approach of our educational project. Our highly qualified teachers, innovative curriculum, and focus on both academic success and personal growth create a dynamic learning environment. Additionally, we offer two routes for university entry qualifications: International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and A Levels (supplemented where necessary with Spanish qualifications). Both are internationally recognised and respected by leading universities around the world.
We ensure personalised attention, effective learning, and a supportive classroom environment to support individual growth. Our average ratio varies depending on the educational stage.
Joining BSB is a simple and streamlined process. Our dedicated Admissions team is here to support you every step of the way. To get started, you’ll need to complete the online application form and provide your child’s most recent school reports, passports/IDs, and references (if applicable). This allows us to begin the admissions process and ensure we can meet your child's needs. Depending on your child’s age and the year of entry, we will invite you and your child to either an informal assessment or an interview to evaluate their English proficiency for the appropriate year group. Additionally, your child will have an interview with the Headteacher as part of the process.
