Meet our Senior Leadership Team
Neil Tetley – Executive Principal
Neil was appointed as Executive Principal having previously been Principal of Hastings School in Madrid and Head of Woodbridge School in the UK. In addition to the UK and Spain, he has lived and worked in Japan, Italy and Belgium.
He has a degree in History from the University of Cambridge, where he also gained his Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
He is passionate about ensuring students achieve excellent academic outcomes, but also have a genuinely enjoyable experience at school and develop the qualities and attributes they will need to succeed in life.
His interests include family, reading, food and cricket!
James Petrie – Assistant Executive Principal
James was appointed Deputy Head of BSB Secondary in 2015 and Headteacher of Secondary and Pre-University in 2018. Since 2024, he has acted as Assistant Executive Principal.
He has taught and led in UK state and Independent schools as well as working in the international sector.
James has a degree in English and Related Literature from the University of York and a PGCE from Cambridge University.
James’ interests include History, Literature, Art and Sport.
María Sintes – Senior Business Manager
María joined BSB as Business Manager in September 2024, overseeing Finance, HR, Facilities & Operations and IT for all campuses.
She brings a strong background in consulting, finance, and management. Her focus is on streamlining operations, fostering a collaborative community, and ensuring that financial strategies align with our mission to empower students to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
María holds a degree in Business Administration from IQS University and completed a Management Development Programme at IESE Business School. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her family, playing padel, and horseback riding.
Judy Dean – Headteacher, Early Years and Primary, BSB Castelldefels
Judy has been working at the British School of Barcelona since September 2007; she has worked in all Primary year groups from Reception to Year 6 and is now currently the Head Teacher of Primary and Early Years. Judy completed her MEd in Educational Leadership in 2016; her dissertation was focused on the leadership of change in schools.
Judy believes passionately in education of the whole child encompassing academic excellence, child-centred learning, and the development of the whole person. Judy has had an interesting and varied career: from teaching in Brighton, leading a national programme of training and resource development for P.E., to teaching in an International School in Belgium.
Judy moved to Spain in 2007 to follow her love of climbing. She spends her weekends discovering places to climb and has a real love of the outdoors. Judy also swims regularly and enjoys mountain biking.
