BSB Awarded ‘Best Place to Work’ at Cognita Leadership Conference 2024
We’re proud to announce that The British School of Barcelona was awarded the ‘Best Place to Work’ award in the large school category at the 2024 Cognita Leadership Conference. This is a significant achievement for everyone involved and reflects our commitment to making BSB a rewarding and enjoyable place to work, recognising that our teaching and support staff are our most valuable assets.
The Cognita Leadership Summit is an opportunity to celebrate exceptional contributions across the region at the Awards ceremony, recognising individual and team achievements across various categories.
Dominik Anke, BSB’s former Business Manager, received the ‘We Go Together’ Oward. We would like to congratulate him and wish him well in his future endeavours as Head of Finance Spain & Italy.
Other Cognita schools in Spain also received an Award: El Limonar International School Villamartín in Alicante and the Admissions Team at Hastings School in Madrid.
For us at BSB, this is our third consecutive award, following ‘Most Loved by Parents’ in 2022 and ‘Operational Excellence’ in 2023. The diversity of these awards highlights our ongoing commitment to improvement across all areas of the school, as acknowledged by both parents and staff.
The Cognita Leadership Summit
The annual Cognita Leadership Conference gathers all Cognita’s Europe and US senior leaders in a dedicated event that helps strengthen cross-regional connections, align on strategic goals, and drive our shared commitment to educational excellence and a culture of care and support.
Along with the awards, the conference also provided attendees with the chance to engage in discussions, panels and presentations on different important topics.
Emily Henderson, Headteacher of Early Years and Primary at BSB Sitges, participated in a discussion panel to share reflections and key takeaways from the day’s sessions. These sessions covered topics such as Leader Evaluation of Teaching and Learning, Speaking with Confidence, Conversations with Colleagues, and Building Capacity for Excellence.
James Petrie, Assistant Executive Director, led the presentation on the importance of oratory, offering insights into how we at BSB help students build this essential life skill. Emphasising its value alongside reading and writing, Mr Petrie explained how BSB provides a framework for developing spoken language skills through a variety of purpose-driven opportunities, including class presentations, leadership presentations, Philosophy for Children (P4C), debating, Model United Nations (MUN) Conference, Public Speaking Skills Society, and Drama/LAMDA lessons.
