We are proud to announce that two of our Pre-University students have received offers to study at the University of Cambridge next year. One student from our BSB Nexus campus will be studying Mathematics, and one from our BSB City campus will be pursuing Law—both highly competitive courses! This remarkable achievement reflects their hard work, dedication, and the invaluable support provided by our teaching staff and Futures team.

These offers from Cambridge are part of a promising early picture for our Year 13 students as they navigate their university applications. So far, BSB students have received offers from top institutions such as ESADE, IE, Imperial College London, St Andrews, King’s College London, Bristol, Bath, Durham, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, with many more decisions expected in the coming months.

Selective Admissions Preparation and Pathfinding
At BSB, we offer a structured and comprehensive approach to guiding students through the university admissions process. At the beginning of the Selective Admissions early entry programme in late January/early February, we invite students interested in pursuing highly competitive courses such as Dentistry, Law, and Veterinary Science.

The programme starts with an introductory meeting, where students gain insights into the programme’s aims and methodology, establish the framework for their university processes, and inform students of the prerequisites and idiosyncrasies of UCAS admissions systems and course-specific requirements. Throughout the year, students participate in additional sessions focusing on:

  • personal statement writing
  • navigating entry test demands
  • public speaking and interview practice
  • academic knowledge development

Additionally, students have weekly meetings with members of the Futures Team, receiving continuous support and access to resources tailored to their degree course aspirations or college choices, Oxford or Cambridge. They are also encouraged to attend university open days and conduct independent research into their desired courses and colleges throughout the year.

Insights from students in top universities
When it comes to institutions like Oxford and Cambridge, we invite BSB Alumni guest speakers to share their experiences, providing valuable insights into both academic and extracurricular life at these universities, which helps them broaden and deepen their application.

Additionally, students are asked to deliver short talks on aspects of interest of their chosen courses in preparation and as practice for interviews.

A year-round work
Maintaining strong academic performance is a key aspect of this journey. Students are encouraged to ensure that their predicted grades align with their university targets and that they sustain high standards throughout the year.

A great amount of teamwork is also invested in preparing detailed references and assiduously checking all personal statements for content and balance prior to submission. In addition, individual personal assistance is provided for students to complete their UCAS applications.

We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements and the dedication of our Futures Team in helping them reach their goals. We look forward to celebrating even more success stories in the coming months!
