We are proud to share that one of our Year 11 students has secured third place in the XI Premio Derecho y Sociedad, a law award hosted by the renowned law firm Roca Junyent.

Our student participated in the El Derecho y Tú (Law and You) programme, designed to encourage students to reflect on critical topics, such as freedom of expression, gender violence, intellectual property, housing rights, LGBT+ rights, and children’s rights. Through a series of workshops led by the firm’s professionals, participants are guided to explore these themes deeply. Following these sessions, students submit a project on a subject of their choice, which is then assessed by an external jury of experts.

Our Year 11 student impressed the judges with her insightful project on the ‘Impact of AI on Society.’ She was selected as one of the ten finalists, earning an invitation to the Finalists’ Ceremony on 20th November. Her outstanding effort resulted in an ex aequo third-place finish, tying with another school’s finalist who explored the right to housing.

Assistant Executive Principal, Mr Petrie, said: ‘This is a fantastic achievement, and it is absolutely great to see BSB students having the confidence and skill to participate in this extremely valuable initiative. Many congratulations to our Year 11 student on this well-deserved recognition, and we would also like to thank Roca Junyent for giving our students the opportunity to participate in the RSA programme.’

The Social Responsibility of the Legal Profession Programme (RSA)

The RSA (Responsabilidad Social de la Abogacía) programme reflects the firm’s broader commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal. It encompasses the Law and You competition, which aims to connect the worlds of law and education by providing students with a safe space for reflection and collaborative work. In addition to the competition, the programme features the Law and Society Award (Premio Derecho y Sociedad), which honours distinguished careers dedicated to the fields of law and justice.

This year, the Law and Society Award recognised the exemplary contribution of the Jacques Delors Institute, a leading organisation dedicated to fostering sustainable, social, innovative, and equitable economic progress within the European Union. Mr Enrico Letta, President of the Jacques Delors Institute and former Prime Minister of Italy, accepted the award on behalf of the Institute during the ceremony.
